Iron- and Nickel Enriched Olivine from Phlogopite Harzburgite of the Bug Granulite Complex (Ukrainian Shield)

An abundance of the trace elements has been determined in olivine Archean spinel-bearing phlogopite harzburgite enclave (sample UR17/2) from Bug granulite complex Ukrainian Shield by SIMS analysis. Major were analyzed SEM-EDS and EPMA The shows a homogeneous chemical composition: MgO — 45.20—45.64 wt.%, FeO 13.66—14.23 with Fo85—86 Fe/Mn ratio 68.3—68.6 which corresponds to 60—70 peridotites. Ni content UR17/2 ranges 4730 5612 ppm, is higher than mantle peridotites, high magnesium OIB Hawaiian picrites. average Ti 20.6 Nb 0.03 Zr 0.32—0.60 low total REE (0.1—0.5 ppm). crystallization temperature, calculated using an Al-in-olivine thermometer, ~ 900°C. Enrichment Fe main feature that distinguishes other mantle-derived olivine. Сomposition host indicates influence T, P, oxygen fugacity composition parent magma on partition coefficients Ni. structure (degree polymerization) are factors responsible for enrichment iron nickel.
